On September 8, 2025, the 25th China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) took place in Xiamen, with the United Kingdom serving as the guest of honor. During the event, Pengcheng Wang , Co-founder and President of HiTHIUM, met with Peter Wilson, British Ambassador to China, to discuss the UK energy storage market and explore potential cooperation opportunities.
As the UK’s top diplomatic representative in China, Peter Wilson officially assumed his role as Ambassador in August 2025. He has previously served twice at the British Embassy in China, giving him deep insight into the country.
The discussion focused on the development of the UK energy storage sector and trends in the clean energy transition. Pengcheng Wang highlighted HiTHIUM’s collaboration with leading UK developer Elements Green, including the joint plan to deploy a 720 MWh single-unit utility-scale BESS project in England. This project ranks among the largest BESS project initiatives in the UK and is expected to be operational by 2027. It will play a key role in reducing renewable energy curtailment, enhancing grid flexibility and reliability, and lowering dependence on fossil fuels.
Pengcheng Wang emphasized that HiTHIUM remains committed to technology-driven innovation and advancing its global strategy to support the energy transition worldwide. He noted that the UK market holds strategic importance for the company, and HiTHIUM looks forward to working closely with local partners to provide solutions for the country’s clean energy needs.
The meeting strengthened mutual understanding and laid a strong foundation for HiTHIUM to further expand its presence in the UK market.
